The Invisalign Treatment Process
Your First Consultation
Invisalign Aurora Ontario. When you come in for your first consultation, our dentists will evaluate your requirements and will discuss with you what orthodontic treatment might be best for you and whether the Invisalign treatment is the best alternative for you.
Your Custom Treatment Plan
We will prepare a treatment plan that is specifically designed for your specific requirements. We use a digital scanning system to create a precise 3 D digital image of your teeth. Using this digital image we will create the treatment plan, including the likely duration of the plan. As a part of this treatment plan you will be able to see what your smile will look like at the end of the treatment period.
What are Invisalign Clear Aligners Made Of?
Invisalign clear aligners are made of flexible plastic — specifically, a patented thermoplastic material called SmartTrack® created exclusively for Invisalign treatment. Invisalign clear aligners are FDA-approved and contain no BPA, BPS, latex, or gluten.
How Do Invisalign Clear Aligners Work?
Invisalign Clear aligners are an alternative treatment method to traditional braces, and are designed to help guide teeth into their intended proper position. The process of using gradual force to move teeth into place is common for both traditional metal braces as well as for Invisalign. The clear aligners system uses a smooth flexible plastic material to move teeth into place instead of metal wires or brackets. The aligners are custom-fabricated to fit your teeth. Based on your treatment plan the aligners are created in sequence for a planned movement of your teeth. Each time therefore that you switch your aligners, your teeth will move a little more towards their intended final position.
Wearing Your Invisible Braces – Invisalign Clear Aligners
You will need to wear your custom made Invisalign clear aligners 20 to 22 hours a day for the best results. We recommend that you take them out only to brush and floss your teeth and of course to eat or drink. Take care that you maintain good oral hygiene otherwise food lodged between your teeth could result in bad breath and worse cavities while you are wearing your aligners.
How Long Is My Invisalign Treatment Time?
Your aligners are meant to be worn for between 20 and 22 hours each day. Each aligner should ideally be worn for two weeks, before it is replaced with a new aligner. The length of your treatment would depend upon the severity of your specific case. Generally, Invisalign treatment can be estimated to take about a year to complete. In some cases, it may be sooner than that but also in some cases, it can take longer – up to two years.
Your Progress Report
As you move through the schedule of aligners that our dentists have prepared for you, you will see your teeth gradually begin to move into their intended place. As your progress continues your dentist may change the schedule of how many weeks you need to wear your aligners. Should you use metal braces or should you use clear aligners for orthodontic treatment? The best way to find out is to come in for a consultation with one of our dentists. Please call 905-751-0009 and we would be happy to set up an appointment for you. We look forward to meeting you and helping you get to the smile that you have always wanted.

The clear aligners will also work for you if you have had orthodontic treatment in the past but would like to make some minor changes to the movement of your teeth that you have already achieved.
What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is a popular orthodontic treatment using clear aligners to straighten teeth gradually.
Invisalign treatment is virtually invisible, so most people won’t even know you’re wearing them. In addition, Invisalign aligners are removable, so you are at ease with eating whatever you want—equally, it’s easy for you to brush and floss your teeth.
Invisalign Aurora Ontario – Complete treatment with Invisalign typically takes about 12 months, although this will vary depending on the individual case. Nevertheless, Invisalign is an excellent option for adults and teens looking for a discreet way to straighten their teeth.
The following are some do’s and don’ts of Invisalign. Some tips about how to use Invisalign aligners follow. Read on:
Do's and Don'ts of Invisalign
1. Wash and Soak Your Invisalign Aligners at Least Once a Day
It is essential to clean your Invisalign aligners after every meal or drink. If you don’t, food particles can accumulate on them, affecting your oral health in several ways, all of which are negative!
Soaking your aligners in water at least once daily is essential for keeping them clean and smelling well. After finishing the soak, get a toothbrush to brush all food particles off of it before slipping back into place.
The best way to keep your Invisalign aligners clean is by not brushing them with the same toothbrush you use for cleaning your natural teeth.
2. Oral Health 101: Brush and Floss Your Teeth every time you wear your aligners
You should always ensure that your teeth are clean by brushing and flossing before putting the aligners back into your mouth.
If you omit this, food particles could get trapped between your teeth and your aligners, causing decay.
3. Cut down on your snacking
We all know that Invisalign is a great way to straighten your teeth, but did you also realize how disruptive eating throughout the day can be for the Invisalign treatment?
Remember to wear the Invisalign aligner for 20 to 22 hours daily. But every time you snack, you need to take out your appliance. This in-and-out with the aligner cuts down the time that you wear your aligner, complicating and delaying your treatment.
4. Cut down on the Coffee and Tea
Drinking Coffee and Tea will stain your aligners. With these stains, people can see that you’re wearing braces and ruin Invisalign’s almost invisible quality.
And if you take out your aligners to drink coffee multiple times a day, then you will struggle to hit the 20 – 22 hours you need to wear your aligners every day.
So cut down on the coffee and tea. You may discover that by the time your treatment is over, you don’t need your coffee’s caffeine fix anymore!
5. Don’t Leave your aligners out in the open
The case for keeping Invisalign in its protective case is clear. If you leave them out, there’s a risk of exposure and damage from airborne pathogens or the building up of bacteria on the aligners.
It would be best if you always kept your Invisalign in their case when you are not using them, regardless of whether you’re at home or on the go. If they fall out of their case and get damaged, it can be expensive! So make sure that you have your Invisalign aligner case always with you.
Even though this might seem common sense, many people don’t follow through by properly storing their aligners, leading to losing these important dental devices altogether.
If you haven’t worn your aligners for some time, remember to soak your aligners before you put them on again.
6. Plan your travel or time away
Remember that you need to switch to new Invisalign aligners every few weeks. This is why applying forethought and planning to any trip while under this treatment is essential.
You could inform your dentist of the number of weeks you are away so that the dentist could give you the next aligner in the sequence. Or arrange for the aligner to be shipped to where you are traveling to.
A stop-and-start treatment will potentially cause complications and could delay your treatment time.
7. Do not clean your Invisalign aligners with hand Soap
Keeping your aligners clean is easy! Soak them in denture cleaner or Invisalign cleaning crystals once a day for about 10 minutes, then brush off any caked-on food and plaque with an extra toothbrush. Rinse well before slipping back into place.
8. Do not Smoke
While wearing Invisalign braces, it is essential to remember that smoking will cause a quick discoloration of your teeth and your aligners due to nicotine stains.
If you take out your aligners to smoke, you’ll reduce the time you wear your aligners daily. And so, you won’t be able to make the 20 – 22 hours per day you need to wear the aligners daily.
This may be an excellent time to consider giving up the smoking habit altogether!
Invisalign Dos and Don’ts!
These are some helpful tips and some dos and don’ts while getting Invisalign treatments. Make sure to ask your dentist about any specific do’s and don’ts that may be specific for you. Then, your dentist will be able to guide you further.
